Kotak Pandora Bernama Bencana
Bak godam raksasa, gempa itu menggada pulau Nias nan naas. Bangunan kukuh, rubuh. Jalanan gagah, pecah. Tower listrik menjulang, tumbang. Kabel listrik panjang merantai, terjuntai. Pulau Nias pun menggulita seketika. Warganya, gulana selamanya. Kita terpana, bencana itu mengapa datang berbondong. Menyeruak relung jiwa, bahwa manusia itu kecil dan papa di mata Nya.
Belum 100 hari bencana Aceh yang melantak kota menjadi tak berupa. Kini drama serupa seperti terputar ke mula. Jerit kematian, pengungsi kelaparan, eksodus tak berkesudahan. Dan satu lagi, kedatangan pasukan asing bak rahmat bagi warga. Singapura datang membawa Chinook, capung besi yang lincah kian kemari. Mengangkut makanan ke pedalaman. Mengevakuasi korban ke daerah aman. Juga menjadi hiburan bagi anak-anak yang didera ketakutan. Singapura juga membawa detektor sonar yang bisa menyigi denyut jantung nun dibalik reruntuhan. Hasilnya, seorang warga yang sudah "terkubur" 5 hari, terselamatkan. Sorai membahana, menyanjung sang tetangga.
Kemana kita? Pejabat dan pengamat yang dikuasai syahwat kuasa, tiada bermuka. "Ini menunjukkan bencana itu adalah universal, global, tidak mengenal sekat kebangsaan. Jadi wajar mereka memberi bantuan sesama tetangga", begitu kira-kira manisnya kata menutupi buruk rupa. Padahal, senyatanya kita sedang mengemis. Sedang membuka borok, bahwa kita tak punya apa-apa. Pertahanan kita rapuh. Hanya punya helikopter tua dengan mesin merk "Kanibal". Sebuah LSM dari Jerman mengirim bantuan dengan menyewa kapal dari Teluk Sibolga. Apa lacur, di tengah samudera mesin mati. Mau minta bantuan, radio juga mati. Padahal, di sungai Thames, London, kapal wisata saja dilengkapi radio canggih, pelampung dan ban bergantungan. Lengkap dengan guard pula.
Kita, mana pernah peduli dengan faktor keselamatan. Banyak cara untuk selamat di saat darurat. Tengoklah, awal kapal itu membuang 3 dari 6 ton bahan makanan untuk korban yang kelaparan. Sebuah ironi. Duhai, ironi apalagi gerangan ini. Disaat bencana mengepung, rakyat menjerit akibat kenaikan BBM, duta besar RI di PBB dibelikan villa mewah di Jenewa seharga 8.1 juta dollar (kl 73 Milyar rupiah). Lalu pejabat Dephan yang berwenang mengatur pesawat dan kapal tentara, justru heboh dengan pengadaan mobil dinas senilai 10 milyar.
Mengapa kita? Arkian, kata Nabi, tangan di atas lebih baik daripada tangan di bawah. Memberi lebih mulia dari pada menerima. Namun, mengemis, kerjasama bilateral, kesadaran global, adalah pilihan kata yang bisa dihiaskan di media massa. Mestinya, ingat pepatah tua:
